Convention floors and waterfront air
San Diego splits neatly into two kinds of jersey work: indoor show-floor builds and outdoor waterfront or park activations. They need almost opposite plans.
Show-floor work is governed by the exhibitor kit. Advance power orders with real deadlines, drayage priced by weight, aisle-encroachment rules that decide where your queue can physically stand, and occasionally labor requirements for equipment placement. All manageable, all expensive if handled late. Send the kit with the brief.
Outdoor work brings marine air and wind. Wind matters more than people assume — loose transfer sheets and unweighted staging turn into a scramble. We plan weighted staging and covered stock, and we bring more clamps than seem necessary.

Tournaments
The weekend circuit
San Diego's sports complexes run tournament weekends year-round, and those are among the most efficient jobs we do. Rosters are known, kit is usually client-supplied, and names can be gang-printed onto transfer sheets before anyone arrives.
The pattern that works: one lane clearing pre-printed roster transfers alphabetically, one lane handling walk-up supporter jerseys live. Day-two inventory planned against day-one actuals rather than the original forecast, because day two is driven by whoever saw the line on day one.
If you run a circuit rather than a single weekend, tell us. Repeat setups get materially more efficient after the first one and we would rather plan the season.
Practical
What to confirm early
For show floors: the power order you placed, booth dimensions, and your advance warehouse deadline. For outdoor builds: shade for operators, a wind plan, and where the queue stands without blocking a path. For tournaments: the roster spreadsheet, as early as you can get it, so we can send back the flag list on over-length names and duplicate numbers.
Worth flagging for San Diego specifically: many of the best outdoor sites here are shared public space, which means permits, defined setup windows, and rules about how long a vehicle can sit at the curb. None of it is difficult, but all of it has a lead time attached.
One more that is easy to forget on the waterfront: parking and load-in distance. A footprint that is a two-hundred-yard cart push from the nearest vehicle access changes the crew hours, and it is much better priced in than discovered at 6am.
